Dream Casting: Assassin’s Creed II

We send out the Hollywood role call for a silver screen rendition of Ubi’s masterpiece.

With its unique Renaissance-era setting, interesting Da Vinci Code take on European history, and abundance of stabbing-related violence, it’s a bit surprising that Assassin’s Creed II hasn’t yet made the transition to the silver screen. While Hollywood seems to think we’d prefer more brainless fare like Max Payne and Resident Evil, there’s a certain appeal to films that don’t feature C-List actors running through 90 minutes of gunfire and explosions for the sake of purchasing a new boat and/or funding the necessary post-filming rehab. In response to this injustice, we’ve come up with a series called Dream Casting, in which we pretend the world is fair and just, giving us complete control over choosing what actors to cast in our hypothetical video game-based films. For our first experiment, we’ve taken a long, hard look at Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed II and envisioned a scenario where it escapes the typical big-budget filmmaking process where bad decisions are made by bad people.
