Why do u heat up the mother board before cleaning the old compound ?? what is the purpose of the heat for ??

why didnt u lean the old compound off the mother board instaed you just reapplyed it .. but u cleaned it off the heat sink you called it ? am confused I though u should clean it off both and if you did would it make any difference ??

heey, it worked great for me… except for one thing. my wireless is all fucked up, like i cant connect to my woreless network, and i cant connect my controller to the ps3, i gotta play while it is connected with the usb….. could it be because the 2 sillver ribbon thingys are backwards or something?? plzz help

This works he leaves the heat gun longer then 15 sec i counted to 30 you are the man heat gun from walmart $25 thermal paste from radio shack $7 rubbing alcohol from dollar store $1 HAVING MY PS3 BACK PRICELESS

Tried 2 times with a butane torch and nothing. First try with a $20 heat gun and it fired up! I had to play around with the cd drive because I screwed it up pulling out the cd, but it now works perfectly! If i didn’t have to give the ps3 back to my cousin youd be getting a big donation!

if you followed it correctly and it didn’t work it could be a faulty power supply as that is another cause of YLOD

The right Temp/Heat and circular motion is Key. If you live in the USA, make sure you do the proper Celsius to Fahrenheit conversion for the right heat gun temperature.

i followed every step and i used ARTIC SILVER 5 as my thermal compound… i repeat the whole procedure after my first try didnt worked..and still YLOD.. how is that ??? what could have been wrong???

that guide worked but shortly after mine started running it died again. and my ps3 was running incredibly loud. now my gow3 disk is stuck inside.

maybe i didnt apply enough heat to the machine? ill retry with more heat, i was a little cautious when i did that step. also whats the point to applying the heat? to the gpu and cpu?
