Today’s show is about the two errors that show up on the PS3 (YLOD) and the 360 (RROD).

    Disc read error is a bad hit.me and my bro went though two of them, thats 4 ps2s. I got both RROD and YLOD. But i still favor 360 because it just runs smoother, and i just enjoyed it a helluva lot more. I think Ima become a pc gamer from now on. Seriously. Its crazy because thse things happen w/o warning. One day its perfectly fine, and then the next day it just doesnt want to work (360). With the Ps3 I was playing it, turned it off, and then it just wouldnt turn back on. Im MAD

    @Darth48076 The real problem is, they just keep trying to cram in all of this stuff to make the thing basically an equivalent to a PC, which, is a mistake. Now, the slim has an issue with freezing, that sony seems to be doing nothing about. Many are saying its a software problem, Im beginning to differ.
    Things are starting to look fishy…

    i have a frend he has a a store he fix my 36080$ got the rrod 3 time befor my 360 went to the dust so he is pretty good and ps3 for 100$ each i i got them back in 1 oe 2 days super fast he is in teaxassanere a peeter pipers nere a skeckers store for shooes he pretty good i even sayed a day and wacthed might be 3 cuse he is 80 years old but he is a swift game fixer

    Darth Sony killed the chance of helping people, THEY MADE A NEW PS3 SLIM,

    MS did a shadow RECALL of the consoles worth 1 Billion dollars, that is why

    they can fix it for free.

    WORSE FOR MS, they will never learn and care more about software then anything, they rather you been on XBL paying for Live games, then playing with console buying 3rd party games.

    @BroKenGaMeViDeOZ worse. Just look at gen to gen and you can see the difference. I have a launch Dreamcast (import), Sega Saturn and Nintendo 64. Never had a problem with them. However I am on my 3rd 360, my son is on his second, my Ps3 is okay and I went through 5 PS2s. Trust me. Next Gen is going to be bad.

    Now for Microsoft they have left a bad tatse in my families mouth. My borthers 360 caught RROD a year ago. Sent it back to Microsoft for 10 bucks. They send a 360 back that works for 2 weeks then RROD. Send it back for 10 bucks. We get a 360 that works for 2 hours but then the dic won’t eject. We send it back and they say there is nothing they can do because the sticker is missing. So we pay play and trade 50 to fix it. It works great for a little over 6 months then bam RROD.

    I got YLOD last month after 4 years on my 60gig. I almost cried. Sony told me 120 for a refurb 120gig system or 180 for my 60gig rebuilt. I decided just to invest in a brand new 120gig slim. Oh well I love my ps3 and the exclusives are so much better. Im not a Halo fan obviously.

    Its called planned obsolescence. Most things we buy are made to break, unless we take really good care of them, the next few years will be a perceived obsolescence. Its all economics.

    First vid of yours I watched and enjoyed it.

    I got a PS3 shortly after launch and it took a while but it did stop reading discs, but no Yellow light. Paid repair fee and I’m cautious now.

    Interestingly enough I bought my PS2 right from the beginning and it still works fine.

    Do you know if the yellow light appears more on the slims or Phat versions?

    I feel you Tim. But it’s still early for the PS3. Remember, the early days of the RROD? It was like an urban legend, the the vids started to appear, then gaming mags / websites took notice, THEN and only THEN MS came out with the presser of the RROD. The YLOD for Sony is at the Vids stage right now.

    Says ~39M X360 sold world wide vs ~33.5M PS3s world wide. 21M (54.2%) failed 360 Vs 3.5M (10.6%) failed PS3s.

    MS was forced into their repair program, while Sony deals with it like a blown tired. “That sucks, we’ll get ya fixed up. $150 for 4 new radials.”

    Sony probably looks at from the angle of, “well 89.4% of everybody else’s PS3 is working” so treats it like any other repair operation. “We fix it, you pay us, we’re both ‘happy.’”

    Sucks for consumer, but I see the business behind it.

    I don’t think MS always had this great return policy. They were forced into it because it was becoming rampant. (Somebody correct me if I’m wrong.) When you have a over a 50% chance of your product exploding, you better set up an easy/cheap way to deal with it.

    Sony’s failure rate is only slightly higher than “acceptable fail rate” that they probably assume you did something, so here’s normal repair fees. “Your son poured maple syrup on the PS3, we can fix it for $150 and a side of waffles.”
