Classic Game Room HD – SHERLOCK HOLMES VS. JACK THE RIPPER Xbox 360 review
Classic Game Room HD reviews SHERLOCK HOLMES versus JACK THE RIPPER for Xbox 360, also available for PC. Elementary my dear Watson!!! Jack the Ripper is bad and we’re going to stop him with our giant, huge, brains!!!!!! Solve murders and other mysteries as Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson in 1888 London. A unique game for the Xbox 360 (feels like a PC game, no diggity-doubt), this is a combination 1st person perspective adventure game, Resident Evil style camera-pulled back explorative game mixed with Ace Attorney Phoenix Wright style deductions and crime solving. Interesting to say the least and one that CSI fans and those looking for puzzle games and mystery solving adventures may enjoy. While Sherlock Holmes feels like it was produced on a tighter budget than most Xbox 360 adventure games it makes up for it with a great sense of time and space, placing the player into late 19th century London. This CGR review of Sherlock Holmes versus Jack The Ripper has gameplay from the Xbox 360 version of Sherlock Holmes vs Jack the Ripper showing game play in HD.

@Monacomaverick Oh
Subtleties is lost on me.

@supercooled It was meant to be a snide remark towards the game’s crapolla graphics.

@Monacomaverick What do you mean?
I’m sure visibility were much further since there were less pollution or it could be stunted because we weren’t as evolved as we are today with all the things that keep us entertained and such.

@Monacomaverick .. It’s actually not draw distance, it’s fog. It might appear the ‘fog’ is masking a short draw distance but this isn’t true either. On days with clear weather you can see down the entire street. In other words, the fog is just badly done.

I have this game on PC, as well as the Nemesis and Awakening ones. Good games. If you like adventure titles, and don’t mind linearity I would recommend it.

If you want to carjack horses and carriages, just play Red Dead.

Yes it really doesn’t matter, the game is a masterpiece for me and the guys at Frogware, as I understood, don’t want to make games about any of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle books because they want to bring something new with the characters. There’s even an interesting twist for the Jack the Ripper case why there wasn’t anything told about Holmes investigation. Can’t wait for the 6th game The Testament of Sherlock Holmes.

@CrimsonDusk
Good bit of research there and, apparently, the Whitechapel murders weren’t directly involved in any of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes novels or short stories; which, based on your info, would mean someone f***ed up and didn’t research as deeply as they should have.
But it’s such a minor detail anyway when compared to everything else the game does right. Definitely the best adventure game I’ve ever played (with GK: Beast Within a close second!)

Love the intro song, where can i find it?

Yeah I just read a bit on Wikipedia and it says “Watson is a physician of some experience” but it also says “He had served as an Assistant Surgeon of the Army Medical Department” so technically he has seen some bloody things in his lifetime but yeah I could be wrong about the characterization. Funny thing The Awakened happens in 1894 and Jack The Ripper case happens in 1888, so Watson between that time became more accustomed to seeing gore since he doesn’t act that disgusted.

@CrimsonDusk
I thought Watson was just a General Practitioner, not a forensics analyst, which would account for his revulsion at seeing a body so horribly mutilated. I could be wrong though.

@Dja05 RDR is set in 1907 (I think),and the Victorian-era had come to an end by then.Anyways,why make an add-on when a developer like Rockstar games can make an entire game.

@sugreev2001
Or a London add-on for red dead redemption
