urgent xbox 360 ring of death RROD question?
Hi, I’ve been using my 360 today (it’s nearly 4 years old, never been played for longer than a few hours at a time and has been looked after, it gets well vented and hasnt been crashing or having graphical errors) and i’ve just gone back to it and bam, the RROD, 3 flashing red lights, my stomach dropped and i was totally gutted. I turned it off then back on again and the RROD was gone? Obviously very happy, i disconnected the console and put it somewhere cooler to have a nice cool down, plugged it back in and BAM the RROD came back! i could scream at this point, well, the console has warmed back up to my room temperature (about 16 ‘C) and i layed it horizontally on 3 dvd cases and well… mirculously its working again!? how can it have the fatal RROD one minute then be fine the next? it’s as if something is loose inside the console, but that can’t be right.
So onto my main question, if i keep getting the RROD does that mean the console is finished for and needs replaicing? or is it actually possible that i will only get it sometimes and it will sort itself out, like it has just been doing?

same thing has happend to me and for me it ultimately lead to the RROD staying on. I had it twice but restarted it and kept playing but eventually it wouldnt get rid of it. I suggest ordering the appropriate mailing label from microsoft so u can send it back for repair. I dont know why it has it sometimes and doesnt others

it’s just happend to me and i no its the most anoying thing EVER !!!!
but it can be fixed a few ways
number 1 – wrap it in a towel and plug it in and turn it on wait 20 mins – 30 mins . WARNING this only works for a little while
number 2 – you could look on ebay for silver artic five paste this works normally
but if all else fails buy another xbox 360 or a ps3 which doesnt have any mager faults

Umm you could also just take it somewhere to get fixed. There has to be like an electronics repair shop in your town or somthing, right?

This is one of the reasons y I prefer PS3(besides the fact that it rocks!:D)
Microsoft is mainly a software company and has advanced softwares, and also has loads of people who hate em(not sure why, maybe its cos they’re mac users or something?)(or maybe cos they like 2mess with em ‘lol) So people create viruses for Xbox. You cant avoid them, when u play online it will randomly come!
When u get a virus the ring turns red, and u literally cant turn it on!
Btw, It is said that If u have a Xbox Elite, It will make it harder 4 viruses, I’m not sure about that.
Anyways, my friend also got this problem, but he was smart and reported it 2 Microsoft (ill attach a link 2 help u report it) Microsoft told him 2 send it 2 Germany 2 see if they can fix it(Germany is where they’re factories are in Europe)(they’ll give instructions on how 2 pack it up and send it etc) If they cant fix it, they’ll give him a new one!(for free!)
Also, if u get a yellow light it means u have hardware problems, (they’re a software company, which is y they’re online is better!) But Sony on the other hand(PS3) is a hardware company(they make tvs(Sony Bravia), Laptops(sony Vaio) etc etc)(which is y we have Blu-ray Disk drives etc), so they’re problems are hardware-based and when they get that problem they aswell get a yellow light!
Anyways, I suggest u send this 2 microsoft, they’ll hopefully help.
I hope u solve ure problem!

Well you have 2 options to repair it. Both ways are effective but it’s up to you
1st Option – Send it to Microsoft
It will cost you around $130 if you don’t have warranty and it will take up to 4 weeks to get it back.
2st Option – Fix it yourself
I did this 2 months ago. It’s cheap, easy and effective, $29 for the guide and 1 hour of your time that’s all you need to fix it.
Here’s a link for the guide:
