got 80gb ps3 want to play Final Fantasy series which one to start with? The earliest one possible or latest?

What’s the oldest I could play on the ps3 and would it be worth it? Would it be better if I just played that latest ps2 version or would I be missing out?

All Final Fantasy games have no links between them. So you can play the first one and the last one and you wouldn’t miss anything.

DO NOT GET FINAL FANTASY 11. you have to pay to play that game online. Its so bogus. Well, some PS3’s do not play ps2 software. My friend has a ps3 and he was flipping out cause he couldn’t play BULLY. If you wanna play a final fantasy game, maybe start with 10. Final Fantasy 12 is okay but it shoots everything out of the water cause of the battle controls. Final Fantasy 10 is the one to go with. Its not so expensive either. And Final Fantasy 13 is coming out for ps3 sometime in the future if you wanna wait. lol. btw, there is no ps3 version of final fantasy 10 or 11. There might be a version of 12 for ps3 though it has not been advertised.

Oldest for PS3? None, they haven’t released a Final Fantasy for the PS3 yet.

For PS2 they released FF10 and FF10X-2 both are in the same timeline and FF12

If you really want to enjoy final fantasy start with 7 (playstation) then 8, 9, 10 and so on.
The originals were good but the game became popular at 7+ Each game is of a different timeline/world (well console versions)
1 of the best ones (if you like tactics like games)
is Final fantasy Tactics (PS1 version)

Just be ready cause every single Final Fantasy game is long and to really enjoy it take your time.

As far as I know FF X is the only part of series that can be played on ps3, its totally worth it believe me (FF 7 remake is in plans but it seems it will remain this way forever :/). To be able to play it your console must support backward compatibility (40 GB version does not have this feature, but there are rumors about coming update that’s gonna fix it). As for chronology its true that you don’t have to play FF tittles in particular order as long as sub-tittle points that it’s continuation ( like FF 12 and FF 12: Revenant Wings or FF X and FF X-2).
