I have just had of my 3rd RROD, i phoned x-box to give them details but they are asking for new info, Why?

Like i said this is the third time i have had a RROD so i am familiar when the process of phoning x-box to come and fix it (albeit temporaraly).

I phoned up last night and i gave them the usual name, address, product i.d, serial no. and date of manufacture, but the guy started asking me for my tag, i am guessing he means my gamertag but why would they want that?

i know there may be some modded 360’s flying about and when using live most machines are scanned and all mods are banned from live and so microsoft wouldn’t be to happy in fixing these “illegal” machines, but heres my problem is this,

Say a kid has a 360 then he will most certainly will come aross a RROD at least once, right, fair enough. now, said kid must phone x-box to come and get his 360 unit to take it away to narnia (at least i think thats where they take them, it takes so long for them to send it back they may as well ship them to pluto), so the kid give x-box all his details and the kid is asked for his gamertag, again fair enough BUT what if the kid hasn’t got Live? how are x-box to know if this machine has been modded?! now x-box refuse to collect his machine and the kid is left very disappointed!

Its a stupid system and i want to know why the hell x-box thought this would be a good idea!

Doesn’t he mean the serial code on the back of the xbox? There’s no reason he’d want your gamertag

Yeah, they’re poorly made crap, lucky for microsoft they have good games or no-one would touch them!

the tag they are talking about is your service tag that came with the Xbox 360 not the gamerstag

You could do the request online on the support website.

Maybe the support guy just wanted to socialize and play an online game with you when you get your console back.

I once chatted with a nice female representative about my last holiday travel to the sea while waiting for the database to process my problem.
