Is there anything I can do to make my 20gb japanese version ps3 to play uk bluray dvds?
I currently own an import 20gb ps3 which will not allow me to play uk bluray dvs because its the wrong region, is there anything I can upgrade on my ps3 which will allow me to play uk bluray dvds. Would I be able to install a chip or something to the like?

First off, region 3 blu rays are region free. Second, to play region locked blu rays you would just need to get a blu ray drive from whatever region you are wanting to view the blu rays from (this case region 1) I have a region 1 (US) and a region 2 (Japan) blu ray drive. . All you have to do to swap them out is remove the screws from the casing, pull it apart, remove the 4 screws (sometimes 6 screws on older systems) that hold the blu ray drive in, remove the cable from the old drive and connect the new one. It’s a lot of work to just watch a few blu rays but for me I only have to change it out once in a long while….like when a game that I really want releases in Japan but not the U.S., otherwise I just keep my region 1 BRD in.
BTW: Region 1 BRD’s can be found on ebay fairly cheaply….
