With PS3 Do you Need to Have a Network Connection In Order to Use Downloaded Content?
Question is as above.
I have Red Dead Redemption and installed the war horse, assassin outfit and gold revolvers but now I no longer have an internet connection and those items seem to have vanished. Any ideas?
That is – they’re gone from the new game but still present in an old saved game
Is it true that xbox 360 is getting Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2 download content before the ps3?
Please tell me they are not if they are I say Microsoft must have paid a lot of money for it just like they did for grand theft auto IV lost and damned & the ballad of gay tony also will there be any grand theft auto IV download content for the ps3.
SCEA VP Wants More Content On Disc, Not DLC
Fewer changes in the gaming industry over the past few years have caused more debate than the rise of down-loadable content — and even hardware executives are chiming in. Speaking to Gamasutra, Sony Computer Entertainment America vice president Rob Dyer explained why he wants to see more content going on discs and less sold later on the Internet.
“That way, 100 percent of the users are going to get it. 100 percent,” Dyer said. “What are we, north of 70 percent [of PS3 owners] on the [PlayStation Network] now? 73, I think. Microsoft probably the same… [That's] still a significant number of people that aren’t able to get [it], whether they don’t have broadband, whether they just flat out can’t get on the network. Whether or not you do it, they’re not using it. I want it on the disc, that way when they buy it, they get it. So, if I can do that, that’s great.”
Still, Dyer also acknowledged why DLC does remain a component in today’s videogame market. “Now, you can talk about why DLC is important to help limit the used game business and to keep people holding onto [the game],” he said. “I’m all about that, too. I love that. But I want it on the disc so that 100 percent out there that can play this thing.”
StarCraft 2 Censorhip in South Korea Removes Blood, Smoking
StarCraft 2 will have its content censored when it is launched in South Korea later this year.
Korean e-sports website FOMOS reports that changes made include coloring the in-game blood black, along with the removal of smoking references and “vulgar” language.
First Round of Premium Splinter Cell DLC Launching Next Week
The first round of premium dowloadable content will soon be arriving for Splinter Cell Conviction. Ubisoft has revealed the Deniable Ops Insurgency Pack, which will include four new maps for Xbox 360 and PC owners.
Set in New Orleans, Portland, Salt Lake City and San Francisco, the new Deniable Ops maps will be available in the Hunter, Face Off, Infiltration and Last Stand modes. It will also add 250 points worth of new achievements.
Free down-loadable content has been available for Splinter Cell since last month. The free items include the MP7A1 Machine Pistol, Proximity Mines and other items.
Exclusive Content for Red Dead Redemption PS3 Revealed
It looks like PlayStation 3 owners will be getting a couple extra pieces of content when Red Dead Redemption hits next week.
Joystiq is reporting that a few customers who obtained early copies of the game have noticed a sticker on the PS3 version’s packaging advertising exclusive content.
The content includes the Solomon’s Folly Gang Hideout and a Walton Gang Outfit. The latter makes protagonist John Marston look rather dapper in a top hat.
How EA’s Online Passes Will Make You a Digital Consumer
EA’s recent announcement that they intend to charge for “title-specific” features in used sports games via Online Passes has sparked controversy in some quarters. Speaking during an investor call today, EA CEO John Riccitiello said that consumers will be getting a “boatload more content to experience than they otherwise would.”
“We used to literally pull our teams off of a game within maybe four to six weeks pre-ship and they’d go work on something else because the game was done, it was going into manufacturing. Their jobs were done.”
Ricitiello said that teams are now being kept in place to continue developing content to continue entertaining the consumer, “Of course, EA’s going to benefit too… and not just from fewer used game sales.”
Why LBP2 Is A Retail Game And Not A DLC Expansion
Little Big Planet has relied heavily on Media Molecule’s continual release of down-loadable content and community level additions, so the decision to release the sequel as a full retail item instead of a down-loadable expansion may strike some as odd. We asked co-founder Alex Evans to explain some of the reasoning behind the decision.
“There are kind of two reasons,” Evans says. “It’s all predicated on [having] to make [the game] backwards compatible, which is huge and epic technically, and also quite unheard of in terms of all of the content that comes across. If we did DLC, [it'd be] a drip feed. If you wanna do 10 features at once and then holistically make a story that uses all of those together in all the different combinations, [retail's] the only way to do it. It has to be an event. We couldn’t release a new story with all these tools, bit by bit by bit.”
Moving content from Xbox 360 marketplace to a new hard drive?
Hi. If I already downloaded something onto an old Xbox 360 hard drive is there a way to move it to a new hard drive without paying/downloading it again? Thanks

Dante isn’t done yet; Trials of St. Lucia walkthrough
I never thought I’d be able to draw comparisons with the loveable world of LittleBigPlanet and the terrifying horrors of Dante’s Inferno, but the Trials of St. Lucia DLC proves me wrong. What’s basically a challenge mode is transformed into a hub for unlimited user-generated content.
In the walkthrough video above, lead designer Greg Rizzer talks up the new content for Visceral’s violent action game, offering up tips for survival and how to get a high score. Those looking to score some more action with Dante’s Inferno need to look no further. With players offering new trials designed by themselves, you’re sure to never run out of things to do/slaughter.
You don’t have to do it all alone either; Trials supports 2-player co-op. Look to down-load it all on April 29th.
