Capcom Outlines Mega Man 10 Time Attack DLC

Enker and Punk

Longtime series fans will recognize a few familiar faces coming to Mega Man 10 in the form of down-loadable content. We already knew about Bass coming as a playable character, but Capcom is reaching into the archives in some other ways as well. Today the company revealed the bosses of the three Time Attack stages that will be coming out over the next few months. Each of the bosses hails from one of the old Gameboy games. For younger readers, the Gameboy was like the DS, but it only had one screen and two colors.

First up is Enker, from Dr. Wily’s Revenge, as the boss of Special Stage 1, which is due out April 5. The second Special Stage, to be available on April 26, features Punk from the GB Mega Man 3. Finally, at an unrevealed date, Ballade from Mega Man 4 will join the fray in Special Stage 3. Their attack patterns should be familiar to those who played the older titles. Each special stage will cost £1, or its funny-money equivalent on the Nintendo Wii and Xbox 360.

Next Spider-Man Game Subtitled "Shattered Dimensions"

GamePro Cover

The latest issue of GamePro has a juicy reveal for fans of Marvel’s webhead right on its cover: Evidently, the next Spider-Man game out of Activision will be called Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions.

Probably more details will be found inside the issue, but right now all we know is the title of this still-unrevealed game on the mag’s cover (via MTV multi-player). Activision CEO Bobby Kotick recently made news by stating their past Spider-Man games “sucked,” saying that a Spider-Man game should be “about web-slinging. If you don’t do web-slinging, what is the fantasy of Spider-Man?” So, probably expect a big focus on web-slinging in the next Spider-Man game.

What else to expect is anyone’s guess, but as multi-player points out, the name “Shattered Dimensions” might suggest a crossover between Spider-Men other than Peter Parker, like the Scarlet Spider and Spider-Man 2099. It’ll also be interesting to see how the changes in the film franchise’s schedule will affect Activision’s ideas for it’s Spider-Man games. No doubt they would have had a game ready for Spider-Man 4 in 2011, but now that Sony has decided to reboot the franchise with a new film in 2012, it leaves some open room for what will likely be another original game starring the wall-crawler. We’ll probably find out more soon.

Playable Bass, Special Stages Coming to Mega Man 10

Mega Man 10

Like Mega Man teleporting into a stage, word of downloadable content for Mega Man 10 came almost instantly. No sooner was the game released on WiiWare than the official Nintendo page detailed DLC plans to take place during April. “Bass Mode,” which presumably will let you play as Mega Man’s musically-named rival, will come on April 5 for 200 points ($2). Three “Special Stages” are scheduled for 100 points ($1) each, the first of which will hit April 5, followed by the other two on April 26. An “Endless Attack Mode” will also come on the 26, for 300 points ($3). If you want all the DLC, you’ll be paying a total of $8 on top of the $10 game price. All of these release dates are for the Wii version of the game, so we’re not sure yet if the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions will feature the content on the same day.

Mega Man 9 similarly featured post-launch DLC that totaled eight bucks. Among these a la carte Mega menu options were an extra stage, increased difficulty, the Endless Attack mode, and the ability to play as Proto Man. Mega Man 10 includes Proto Man from the start, but apparently Capcom is making up the difference with more special stages.
