Hi. about 1 month ago from now, i first got this red ring of death, since i had it in the 3 year RROD warranty i was saved… i sent it to Microsoft.. it got back to me in about 1 week… all was good….
… for the first 5 hours or so…. thats all the use i got out of it.. about 5 hours… maybe an hour or so a day, and the same happens. i sent my 360 to microsoft AGAIN about a week ago, and 3 days ago i checked my repair status and it says its on it way back to me, so i’m guessing it will be arriving tomorrow.

Will they replace my xbox 360 or will they just keep repairing it? i obviously have a dodgy batch

Ok so I found out that my broken 360 is available to be repaired by microsoft for free so now iv got £300 to spare in the bank. Iv been looking at some of the games for PS3 and a few of them have really caught my eye but still not enough so that Im entirely 100% on buying a PS3.

So I dont want to hear “cos it wont break” or “it wont get RROD” or “cos its better than a 360″ because I already have one so those are not valid reasons for me to buy a PS3. So why should I get a PS3?

i live in the UK and my 360 was sent for repair to germany with the RROD. it got there yesterday and microsoft are already shipping it back (according to the xbox website). the xbox website gives the tracking no. but UPS says that it could not locate that shipment.
So my questions are:

1. How comes my 360 was with Microsoft for only a day? Would they have repaired it that quickly or is it brand new?
2. Why can’t UPS locate my shipment?

I haven’t received any email from Microsoft yet, so should I wait for that first?

Right, this has really annoyed me.

About 4 months ago my old Xbox encountered this problem so I sent it off to Microsoft to get it repaired… however, it got lost in the process so a months ago they finally arranged for a new one to be sent out to me to replace the one they lost…

But now, this brand new console (barely one month old) has encountered the red ring of death. Since it’s only a month old it’s obviously still in warranty and I am legally entitled to a new Xbox since mine has encountered a fault which was caused by Microsoft’s design rather than anything I did wrong.

It really is beyond a joke, I can’t see why Microsoft don’t just fix the issue in the new consoles; they’ve took the time to make it so if you internally modify your Xbox you can’t use Xbox LIVE in the new models so why don’t they fix the RRoD issue while they’re at it?

So my question is; Who do I demand a new console from? (I didn’t buy it from a retailer [shop], it was sent by Microsoft but I don’t know if they will of kept the records of it.) Shall I call Microsoft and demand a new one from them?

Josh E, I’d like a PS3 but I can’t afford one, even at xmas time, they’re just too expensive for me :/ I know they’re a lot better made than Xbox 360’s now because of bad experience, I had a lot of problems with my first one other than the RRoD (unable to read disks [even brand new ones], freezing up, laggy gameplay… *sigh*)
stephen m, fixes like those are only temporary and also void your warrenty… no thanks.

my xbox worked last week friday nite perfectly fine
woke up saturday and the pic was dodgey ,instead of grey it was a slight green , so ithought to myself , ok il reset it , turned it off , waited and got a drink , and turned it back on , now everything was a pale blue colour , i thought hmmm odd ,switched it off agen ,turned fine , played for bout 20 mins n the green was back , then that faded , n the blue came , then the green agen , and then the pic just died out completely , wtf ? Then it came back , and i gave up , thought id giv it a rest , mayb it was over heating , so i turned it off , and then now ( since sunday ) it wont giv a pic at all
tried 2 different cables and 2 different types , and 3 screens.
i bought it on feb the 3rd last year , and microsoft wont replace it as there is no RROD at all
now i cant get a replacement , wot shud i do?
and i hav 2 pay 2 send it 2 microsoft , and then my mate did that with his and he got charged 60 quid
id rather sell it for parts on ebay and buy my bros for 40 lol

iv tried my comp monitor , my bros , his spare one , my tele and 3 different cables….

My xbox 360 has started freezing it does it with hard drive attached as well as not and it has not yet got RROD, because of this I don’t want to send it to Microsoft if I don’t have to. Has anyone tried the fix it yourself packs of any other companies like the game train?

Would anyone recommend any other companies at all?

I have found out that Microsoft will only give extra warranty if it is RROD (which mine is not)
The xbox cannot be used at all because it freezes within a minute of being turned on, it has not be kept any where near any heat or even used excessively, just want to know if anyone has tried a DIY kit or anyone other than Microsoft?

im thinking of modding my xbox 360 but if anything goes wrong will they fix even without warrenty but how much will they charge you??? i have allready ran out of warrenty so im gonna mod it
i know i will have to pay but how much
i have sprayed the colour on the top and bottom of the xbox was grey now black does this count as a mod?
so if i change it drop it on the floor and get the RROD they will fix it
not opened all i have done at moment is change the colour of the top and bottom

I want to buy a x-box 360 but the faults and RROD creep me out,I cant spend my hard earned cash knowing that my console is living on borrowed time so is there such a thing as a problem free console for 360 I also heard that mid 2007 360 consoles and up are problem free and dont have the RROD,Is that true? Thanks for reading.
